The Old Barn is one of the most quirky, fun and unique DIY wedding venues in Devon. With17th Century original oak beams, rustic stone walls and a fabulous after-hours party surprise, it’s a beautiful blank canvas, whatever your dreams for your big day.

We’re a family-owned barn reception and wedding venue near Clovelly in North Devon, and offer exciting contrasts. Set in beautiful countryside and within sight of the stunning coast, our venue is vintage, rustic and perfect for anyone who wants to make their big day totally memorable.

Our oak beamed barn has been carefully converted into a unique setting that can comfortably accommodate 118 people for a ceremony or seated meal and up to 200 for a reception – though it works very well for smaller groups too.

Attached to the barn is a beautiful conservatory, which for much of the year is covered in grape vines and wisteria, with large windows overlooking a private garden with space for a tepee or small marquee.

And the biggest surprise is that, despite the otherwise rural setting, it is tucked away in the corner of a fun park – which means that you and your guests (old and young!) have the added excitement of playing on our fabulous dodgems, and lots of totally unique photo opportunities. We’re also just a mile from the picture perfect village of Clovelly in North Devon, and surrounded by countryside and our own lake – so there are lots of romantic, tucked-away spots too.

Of course, the fact that we welcome all couples shouldn’t need saying – but rest assured that we are very gay friendly here at The Old Barn. One of the first events at The Old Barn wedding venue in North Devon was a same sex celebration – in fact, it was one of our owner’s own civil partnership celebration, held right here, that inspired us to open it to others.

Couples have the freedom to go for a completely DIY wedding here, and are welcome to use the wedding professionals of their choice, or ask us to recommend trusted local suppliers – you can even do the finishing touches yourself if you’re feeling creative.

We can offer you and your guests a celebration with a totally unexpected after-party surprise that’ll ensure it’s remembered by all for many years to come.
