With its flower filled courtyards and views of Dartmoor, Monks Withecombe offers exclusive use of the perfect venue for a Devon country wedding and reception. Set in the unspoiled beauty of the Dartmoor National Park, just ½ mile off the A382 and one mile from Chagford, Monks Withecombe offers safe parking for up to 100 cars.

Whether you’re getting married in one of our lovely local churches, or planning a civil ceremony or civil partnership in the Gallery at Monks, we are here to help.

There is a reserved parking area for the exclusive use of the bridal car and Registrars in the front courtyard. Your family and guests will gather in the middle courtyard before the ceremony, having walked up through the gardens from the main parking area.

In the week before your wedding or civil partnership, we can take in deliveries for you, to be kept in your own secure storage area.

The Gallery is light and spacious, with views out over the gardens towards Dartmoor. You are welcome to make the space your own, and to decorate the Gallery with flowers and foliage. We will be on hand to assist with parking and to see your guests safely on their way home as the reception draws to an end.

The marquee field has a dedicated electrical and water supply and we have a massive back-up generator. We can recommend good suppliers, but this is your day, and only you know exactly the way your day should be. You are free to engage your own choice of caterers and to select the marquee of your dreams for up to 450 guests. Provided your suppliers are properly trained, registered and insured, we will be delighted to work with them.

Will it be champagne and canapés from Devon’s finest caterers or a Devon cream tea on the lawns and a delicious pig roast? The choice is yours, and we will do our best to ensure that both you and your guests have the happiest possible day.

Your photographer will discover that Monks offers numerous wonderful locations for photographs. While your guests explore the gardens, and then wander through the orchard to enter the marquee, you will have plenty of time and privacy for photographs. As the sun sets over Dartmoor, we hope you’ll want to raise a glass to the beauty and friendliness of Devon.

The area around Chagford on Dartmoor offers a wide range of accommodation. From the elegance and luxury of the Gidleigh Park Hotel to the cosy charms of local B&Bs and pubs to the affordable convenience of the Travel Lodge at Whiddon Down, your family and friends will be made very welcome. We recommend Harvey Buses, which offer a safe, convenient and reliable service from 10.30 onwards, collecting guests from Monks and delivering them to their destinations.

You may want to reserve our B&B accommodation for yourselves . On the ground floor of the farmhouse at Monks Withecombe, with level access, the B&B suite includes a private sitting room, bathroom and double bedroom. After a long day of high emotion and excitement, you may want to spend the first night of your married life at Monks. Enjoy breakfast in the privacy of your own sunny sitting room with freshly squeezed orange juice, local bacon and free range eggs and delicious coffee with time to talk over memories of a wonderful day.
