Down a tree-lined drive in Halifax, West Yorkshire sits the impressive Jacobean manor, Holdsworth House – one of Yorkshire's top wedding venues.
Decorated with climbing clematis and steeped in history, the site dates back on records as far as 1272 although the present stone house was erected in 1633.
Holdsworth House is exceptionally camera-friendly, having featured on the small screen several times including the BBC's BAFTA-winning Last Tango in Halifax.
The house is set in 2.5 acres of groomed lands, complete with a sunken Parterre garden and stone gazebo. Two weeping ash trees, planted in 1821, complete the pretty and quintessentially English picture. Inside the award-winning manor you will find many original features, wood panelling, warm open fires, antique furniture and mullioned windows.
Holdsworth House remains privately owned and has retained its character and charm; it is one of only a few Yorkshire venues licensed for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and marriages. There’s a stunning courtyard, complete with an outdoor fireplace, for marriage ceremonies or for serving up 2 AA Rosette barbecue suppers. Holdsworth House offers weddings all year round and makes a stunning backdrop to wedding photos whatever the season.
The food and service match the perfect wedding setting. The kitchen brigade have won two AA Rosettes for over 18 consecutive years.
Marriages and wedding receptions from 8 to 120 guests can be held here in a number of beautiful rooms. Exclusive use is available too. There are 38 bedrooms and wedding guests benefit from a special overnight rate.
Just three miles to the North of Halifax, the house is suitably located to reach many of West Yorkshire's finest destinations.
