Bridwell is a stunning new exclusive use venue in Devon, offering a perfect location and flexible, easily accessed private facilities for weddings. Bridwell is a handsome, classic Georgian house, complete with an Orangery and Chapel, set within 100 acres of superbly landscaped late 18th century parkland that features an ornamental lake and magnificent views across the Culm Valley and rolling hills of Devon.

The estate has a choice of inspiring locations for civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, equal marriage ceremonies, same-sex weddings, marriage blessings, wedding receptions & parties - you really will be spoilt for choice!

For the couple, we invite you to indulge yourself in the stunning Lord Ivar or Lady Ivar suites within the main house. These principal bedroom suites are furnished with four poster beds, fine linens, roll top baths and hand painted porcelain. Adjoining light and airy dressing rooms provide a peaceful haven to relax, retreat and prepare for your special day.

In addition to the Lord Ivar and Lady Ivar suite, 8 further enchanting bedrooms await your guests in the main house.

The 'Old Stables' have been renovated to create 8 additional first floor bedroom suites. A wonderful 'phase 2' of our venue development which will increase our residential capacity from 20-22, to a superb 40-42 guests.

The Orangery, situated close to the house, is one of several jewels in the crown at Bridwell, providing substantial self-contained meeting or entertaining space of approximately 255 sq metres (1,765 sq ft) in a most attractive building surrounded by south-facing gardens.

The 19th century Gothic style Chapel's impressive architecture belies the intimate atmosphere within. It is suitable for a broad range of events, including civil marriage ceremonies, leisure activities, meetings, dinners and drinks receptions - all within easy reach of the main house and the Orangery.

Bridwell's 100 acres of parkland, featuring an ornamental lake, tennis court, helipad and hangar, further supports an almost limitless set of opportunities for events. Marquee events, luxury ‘glamping’, concerts, shows or a huge range of outdoor activities are all perfectly possible.

The much loved family home of Lord Ivar Mountbatten and James Coyle, Bridwell welcomes same sex couples. Lord Ivar and James have been the subject of much press speculation that culminated in an in depth article in the Daily Mail last September 2016. With the Mountbatten royal connections, the fact that Lord Ivar is gay ruffled a few feathers. Today, the whole family accepts their gay relationship.
