Set in the glorious Shropshire countryside, Barnutopia’s rustic party barn is perfect for happy couples seeking a unique wedding venue. Already a fabulous space for smaller receptions, Barnutopia plans to refurbish its long barn and host its first civil ceremony for up to 120 guests in summer 2017. Ladies and gents wishing to formalise a civil partnership with a same-sex wedding need look no further. This quirky and unusual equal marriage venue welcomes everyone.
Barnutopia Weddings & Events
After 20 years abroad in Russia, France and the United States, Katrina and Steve Boydon moved back to Britain in 2014. During their first visit to Tanycoed Farm near Oswestry, Shropshire, they knew this is where they wanted to live and set up their luxury glamping site. April 2015 was move-in month and they welcomed their first glampers in June the same year.
Guests love Barnutopia and the site earned more than one hundred 5-star reviews by the end of its second summer season. Frequently mentioned are the gorgeous yurts, stunning views and the friendly and helpful hosts. But there’s more …
Wedding Venue
Shropshire council planning division granted full planning permission to expand Barnutopia as an event and wedding venue for up to 120 guests. The civil ceremony for your same-sex wedding may happen in the party barn or, perhaps, in a pasture pagoda with the spectacular Shropshire and Powys hills as the backdrop. The ex-farm set-up ensures lots of great photo opportunities before, during and after your civil partnership formalities.
You are free to decorate the barn as you wish and it is ideal for a mini-festival style celebration. Barnutopia can operate a licensed bar until 1 am Friday and Saturday or 11 pm Sunday to Thursday. You may use your own caterers.
Glamping and Accommodation
In addition to choosing Barnutopia for your civil partnership, you may choose to stay in one of the lovely glamping units for your same-sex wedding night. All units are available at a discount to guests attending your equal marriage ceremony. The site has three luxury yurts, two fully furnished stables a shepherd’s hut and a bunkroom. All units have real beds, power, heating, light and free Wi-Fi. Bunkroom guests need to bring sleeping bags but beds in all other units are made up with warm duvets. Shared facilities include the camp kitchen, breakfast room, shower, toilets and TV lounge. Additional guests may pitch their own tents.
Equal Marriage and Same-Sex Ceremony at Barnutopia
Katrina and Steve are surprised and shocked that some wedding venues do not welcome civil partnerships or equal marriage ceremonies. They have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind and treat everyone they meet with respect and kindness. They would love to help you plan your perfect civil ceremony and wedding reception. Feel free to come and take a look around any time if you are considering Barnutopia for your same-sex wedding.
