James and Sam Hayden-Harler, from Kent, got married at Buxted Park Country House Hotel on 24th July 2016, exactly three years to the day they met. This beautiful venue is hidden within the depths of Ashdown Forest and is set within 312 acres of woodland, making the perfect wedding venue.

What makes this couple unique is that they are owners of Ever Ever After, their unique husband-and-husband wedding planning and coordination business. The guys are from Gloucestershire and Kent originally, but now live in small village in Kent, and got engaged on their second anniversary as a couple, and married on their third.

They met online in the summer of 2013 and went for a few drinks in a bar in bromley, “we ended up staying until closing time, without realising it” and when James proposed to Sam it was in a secret garden at a hotel in Ashdown Forest. Very romantic!

In the build up to the wedding they both had two stag nights each, James had his in Bath which revolved around Bake-Off style picnic, followed by an afternoon tea and drinks in London, while Sam had a slumber party with friends, then a formal meal for his second stag.

With both chaps having a mutual love of candles, and their experience of wedding planning, sorting everything was easy; they went crazy at Jo Malone, then put all of their experience into play, with meticulous precision. “We first met at 8.04pm three years previously, so our first dance had to take place at exactly the same time. That meant the whole day had to take place at exactly the same time”.

It didn't end there, with endless cool details thrown in, from handmade table confetti to a confetti canon been let off as they walked back up the aisle as newlyweds. “We also had our wedding ‘stitched’ live by Harriet from In Stitch You. We didn't panic when a few things went not as planned as we were able to rectify them without anybody knowing.”

The Ceremony was held in The Orangery at Buxted Park and when they first visited, it simply felt special, plus the Grand Ballroom was big enough for all the guests they wanted to invite, including the starlit dance floor! The guys had visited Excel Wedding Fair, and there had found striking, bespoke suits by Jon Kruger London; for the ceremony’s women, handmade champagne-coloured dresses from Gemma Worringham of Beau Biens (a friend of James) worked with the royal blue of the suits they finally went for brilliantly. While James had a best man, Graeme, a friend of some 14 years, and Maid of Honour, Mags, Sam had his sister, Becky, walk him down the aisle. Also contributing to the ceremony were James’ Goddaughter Emily; the flower girl; Finlay the ring bearer; and Sam’s best friend, Jo, as bridesmaid.

Keeping things personal, they didn't have many flowers as neither are big fans, beyond cream vindella roses to be worn by the wedding party, and appearing around the ballroom fireplaces, while the cake was made by a friend’s mum, Jane Gosnell. And yes, it was decorated with candles!

As James had so many friends in the entertainment business present on the day, music mattered - and they had West End singer Tiffany Graves singing two songs during the ceremony, while the best mans speech took the form of a pantomime number. “Every guest had to take part in a sing-a-long, which got all our guests involved and created so many laughs.”

Would they change anything? “Not a single thing, we had the best time ever and the day was truly special and memorable and we’re so glad we had our family and friends with us to share our day”
